Driver Trainer Murrell Freight Services - Illawarra

Murrells Freight Service is looking for an experienced Driver Trainer or Heavy Vehicle Driver to join their team in the Illawarra region. This full-time role focuses on supporting driver capability, safety, and compliance across operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess and train new and existing drivers.
• Conduct driver competency and VOC assessments.
• Deliver training and coaching programs.
• Mentor staff during probation and ongoing development.
• Maintain training records and compliance documentation.
• Support CoR, fatigue, and safety compliance.
• Assist with incident investigations as required.
• Work closely with the Compliance Manager and operations team.
• Onboard new starters.
• Conduct audits of drivers and equipment.

About You:

• Current MC Heavy Vehicle Licence with proven driving experience.
• Knowledge of workplace health & safety requirements.
• Previous driver training or assessing experience (highly regarded).
• Strong knowledge of HVNL, Chain of Responsibility, and fatigue management.
• Safety-driven with a calm, professional approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Organised, reliable, and comfortable with compliance requirements.
• Ability to prioritise tasks and adapt to transport operations.
• Certificate IV in Training & Assessment or working towards (desirable).
• NHVR Portal knowledge including permit applications (desirable).
• LF High Risk Licence (desirable).
